Changes in the photograph submission guidelines for Local Testimony 2025
Dear photographer community,
After joint consultations by the board and the exhibition curator, acting from a desire to improve the experience of participating and the quality of the submitted works, we have introduced a number of changes in the exhibition categories and participation guidelines. These changes are intended to adapt the submission process to work in the field.
Submissions for Local Testimony 2025 are divided into three tracks:
-
Single photographs (according to the exhibition categories)
-
Series
-
Long Exposure
Single photographs
Up to 10 single photographs may be submitted in each of the different exhibition categories: News, Religion and Faith, Society and Community, Urbanism and Culture, Sport, and Nature and the Environment.
The News category is open only to holders of a press card.
Series
Up to 4 series may be submitted depicting a special narrative occurring during the year of the exhibition, or a sequence of pictures from the same event with a higher documentary value than a single picture.
Each series may contain only 4–6 pictures.
Submitting series is not restricted to holders of a press card.
More than one series may be submitted in the same category.
Long Exposure
A narrative with documentary depth, extending beyond the year of the exhibition, that proffers a unique individual visual language. Only one series may be submitted, including 10–15 pictures, at least 3 of which must have been taken during the year of the exhibition. A series should not be based on a sequence of pictures from the same event.
Submission procedure
Please consult the Instructing Guide for details of the updated submission procedures and prepare pictures for submission accordingly.
Your submission will have an influence on the look of the exhibition as a whole, and on the manner in which documentary photography is perceived as individual expression possessing vital social, cultural, and historical significance.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns,
Sincerely,
The Local Testimony board
