In February 2005 the Knesset passed the Disengagement Plan Implementation Law. In March-April 2005 a plan was devised for moving all the settlements of Gush Katif as one group to the area of Nitzanim so that the evacuees could preserve their community and remain together. Ariel Sharon supported the plan and ordered government departments to shorten procedures and enable their resettlement in one large bloc next to Nitzanim or in four settlements in Darom Holot Nitzanim.
