Kfar Darom was evacuated of its residents on 18 August 2005 and its houses were destroyed later. Residents of Kfar Darom fervently opposed the disengagement plan. About 250 people fortified themselves on the roof of the settlement’s synagogue. The evacuation of the synagogue involved violent clashes between the settlers and the police and IDF forces.
